Protecting Our Immigrant Community
Growing up in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood, Jake saw firsthand how much our immigrant community contributes to Longmont’s strength and vibrancy. He also witnessed how immigrant communities can be unfairly targeted.
In a city that values diversity, it’s critical that we stand by our immigrant neighbors, especially in the face of the threats posed by the Trump administration. As a council member, Jake will never support cooperation with ICE or the Trump administration’s cruel mass deportation agenda.
Instead, he will ensure immigrant families know their rights, have a seat at the table, and are protected from unlawful detention or deportation. By supporting current city policies, Jake will work to avoid putting a target on the backs of vulnerable families in Longmont who are most at risk.
Jake is proud to have earned the trust and endorsement of Latino leaders because they know his commitment to standing up for people’s rights and safety. He’s also proud to be endorsed by community leaders like Vic Vela, Sr. and Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty, a leader in protecting immigrant rights and defending Constitutional protections. These leaders recognize Jake’s unwavering commitment to justice and his dedication to protecting Longmont families. Together, we can ensure Longmont remains a community where everyone, regardless of background or status, feels safe, valued, and supported.
